This amount could vary as per your activity, weather, etc. You may need more if the weather is hot, if you're physically active, if you sweat a lot, or live in high-temperature areas. If your health condition does not allow you to drink this much water, like bladder control problems, heart disease, kidney disease, etc., talk to your doctor about maintaining your body's hydration and urination to keep your urinary tract healthy.
- Wipe from front to back. It is always advised to women to wipe from front to back after using the toilet. It will help ensure that bacteria from the anal region don't enter your urethra.

- Don't practise unreliable "feminine hygiene." Our markets are flooded with products marketed to women as easy ways to clean or freshen up their genital areas. Such deodorant sprays, douches, etc., can be irritating and might increase your risk of infection.
Therefore, it is always advised to clean your genital areas from outside with mild soap and water.
- Avoid tight-fitting clothing. To limit bacterial growth, one should prefer wearing light, breathable and loose-fitting clothes. Loose-fitting clothes allow good airflow to the areas around your urethra and keep it dry.
- Reconsider birth control methods. A few studies claim that certain birth control methods may increase the risk of developing an infection, especially in women.
What to do to avoid kidney infections?

- Eating cranberry tablets or drinking sugar-free cranberry juice would increase urination and help to flush out our infection. Cranberry juice has been found effective in fighting infection.
- Eating blueberries. Blueberries are found to have the same effect as cranberries. These also help to keep bacteria from sticking to the lining of your urinary tract.
- Do eat probiotics. Probiotics include plain greek yoghurt and fermented foods like sauerkraut and pickles. These probiotics contain "good" bacteria and help keep the bad bacteria at bay.
- During and after the infection, make sure you drink a lot of water. This will help you clean your system and help prevent future infections.
- Avoid alcohol, sugary and caffeinated beverages like coffee, alcohol, or caffeine until the infection is gone. These drinks can irritate your urinary bladder and aid in the problem.
- Avoid eating spicy food. It has been reported to increase bladder irritability.
- Avoid acidic fruits like oranges, lemons, or limes during the infection. However, post-recovery, including acidic fruits with high vitamin C content can help prevent future infections. One can also add other fruits like grapefruit, strawberries, spinach, and green peppers to your diet.
