Chronic kidney disease, also known as chronic kidney failure, is described as an abnormality of kidney function that lasts more than 3 months. Chronic renal failure is divided into 5 main stages, which are determined by the glomerular filtration rate of the kidney.
These include-
Stage 1- High or normal kidney function with GFR greater than or equal to 90 mL/min.
Stage 2- Slight decline in kidney function with GFR 89-60 mL/min.
Stage 3- Moderate decline in renal function with GFR between 59-30 mL/min.
Stage 4- Severe kidney damage with GFR between 29-15 mL/min.
Stage 5- End-stage kidney disease (kidney failure) with GFR below 15 mL/min.
People with diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease are more prone to chronic kidney disease.
Symptoms of Chronic Kidney Disease
